South-West Regional Heat
Congratulations to ALL the Devon orienteers who competed today - we convincingly beat Southampton Orienteers so will compete in the final at Virtuous Lady in October. It was great to see so many Club members enjoying their runs and chatting afterwards. Particular thanks to Steve P and team for putting up the shelters, Ruth C our captain for marshalling us so well, and Helen T for the refreshments and lovely cake. Results are up on the WIM website -link below.
There were some notable Devon successes at the Southern Champs on Sunday in the New Forest. The weather was cold but clear, and the forest fast but tricky in places. Well done to our Southern Champions Tom Perry (M12A, shown here with his trophy), Flurry Grierson (M14A) and Carol Pearce (W70A). Full results below - you can search these results by club as well as class.

Trophy Final, 3rd July
Well done to Devon's Yvette Baker team 2016! The team represented the club in the YB Trophy Final, held in Wormley Woods, near Hoddesdon on 3rd July and supported by the South East Orienteering Association. The team did not come back with any silverware on this occasion, although there was one point when we were in the lead. Congratulations to everyone who took part and well done also to all the volunteers who supported the team's efforts.
May 30th Mount Edgcumbe, Plymouth
Congratulations to all of the DEVON winners in the South-West Middle Distance Championships held at Mount Edgcumbe -and well done to everyone who made the event such a success. The DEVON winners were (and apologies for any omissions or errors):
Devon & Cornwall and KERNO
Roger Hargreaves (KERNO) has created a table of night league events after the three so far (two KERNO and Saltram). KERNO have two more night events planned and Devon one more. Both the D&C and KERNO positions are shown with the D&C positions taking priority.
Flurry Grierson, M14, DEVON, was the only south-west junior to be selected to represent England at the Junior Home International in Ireland this Autumn. Congratulations to Flurry on his performance. Here is his report:
"My trip to Northern Ireland with the England orienteering team was great fun with 2 days of hard navigation over military sand dunes. There were a selection of shooting ranges that made for a perfect Finish and Event Arena. On day 1 I finished 5th overall but 2nd for England. In the relays I came back first for England. Jeff Butt said that it was highly unusual to be selected at the bottom of my age category. On Saturday everyone took a trip out to the Giant's Causeway and we walked across the rope bridge stretching across two cliffs. A pod of dolphins swam past under a rainbow. That night we danced for 3 hours at the ceilidh. Overall it was great fun."
