Congratulations to Flurry Grierson, M16, who has been selected to represent Great Britain in the 2018 European Youth Orienteering Championships, which are being held in Veliko Tarnovo , Bulgaria, 29th June- 1st July 2018.
The selection was over 6 tough selection races, the last of which was last weekend at the Northern Champs where he came 2nd in his age class in a field of 44. (See photograph.)
Flurry has also been selected for the Summer Talent Camp in the Lake District.
Final round results
League Positions after 5th and final round (following Ashclyst event):
The last event of the Winter series at Ashclyst Forest provided a real workout with good technical controls in a (rather wet and muddy) woodland setting.
Sunday 15 April 2018
Results are now posted. Andy Reynolds (our controller) picked up a couple of ticks in the forest yesterday, so suggested that everyone has a good check of all those little nooks and crannies where ticks can hide!

Permanent Orienteering Courses in Devon: do you make good use of them? The club is currently carrying out a stock take of those permanent courses (POCs) in the county which we support, to help ensure they are fit for purpose and continue to offer an enjoyable experience to all who use them.
Well done to all Devon participants at the JK this weekend. Some great results. See below for some of the top ten places in the overall combined Middle and Long races. Devon also had a podium place in the Men's Short Relay.
Final league positions
Following the Davidstow event (17.2.18) here is the final league table for the 2017/18 Devon and Cornwall, produced by Roger Hargreaves, Kerno. Congratulations to the respective winners: Phil Newall, Adele Newall & Ali White, and to everyone who took part.
GB Talent Squad - Update
The Club might like to know what Flurry has been up to since being selected for the GB Talent Squad last year.
What do members want from the club? That may sound a relatively straightforward question; regular events, fairly close to where members live, not too expensive. Is this an accurate summary?
Devon's turn to provide the photographs!
SWOA has a new website -and has asked each club to provide photographs, one month at a time. It is now Devon's turn and, thanks to Mark Lockett, you can see the results at: sworienteeringassociation.co.uk
The photographs are from the CompassSport Cup Final held at Virtuous Lady in October 2017, and the January 2018 Five Tors event.
