Event Safety Course
Would you like to attend?
The club appreciates members volunteering to help put on events but unfortunately, for insurance purposes, all officials at orienteering events need to have completed an Event Safety Course by 1 January 2017. By ‘Officials’ the British Orienteering Federation means Organisers, Planners and Controllers.

SI Team Workshop
Thursday 11th February 2016
As you may know, a group of Club Members form the DEVON OC "SI Team". Their particular task is to run the computers at all events using Sportident controls and dibbers, ie most events. I am very grateful for their committed and enthusiastic support.
Occasionally we have a Team Workshop, and one such is scheduled for 19.30 on Thursday 11th February at my house near Ashburton.
Coaching Day: Burrator
Saturday 27th February 2016
Repeat of training day that Royal Signals Regiment held here in Spring 2014. Aimed at experienced orienteers although morning activities are suitable for those with some experience. The afternoon session is a single downhill course. It is hoped many will stay on for the night event. We will find a place for refreshments between the training and the night event. Advance booking please. For details see: Events

Devon O Training Day
Saturday 12th July
News: Training Day Cancelled (as of 7th July)
Unfortunately the training day scheduled for next Saturday (12th July) has had to be cancelled. With a week to go numbers were very low but in addition SWW have commenced forestry operations this week in the woods alongside the bridge which would have restricted the areas available to us. We hope to get a replacement session in place early in the Autumn.
Devon Training Day
Saturday 12th April 2014
12th April Training Final Details
Following the success of the last day at Virtuous Lady the clubs' next offering is a"training" day at Holne Moor. I say training as the plan is to set out a series of controls / courses which will give you the option of joining in more structured coaching sessions or simply head out to put your skills and knowledge to the test. A range of sessions to cover all abilities including our most experienced runners. A brown only map in the Ringleshutes mine area will make anyone think!

Mapping Survey Course
Saturday 14th December 2013
Details are attached of a mapping survey course being led by Erik Peckett in December 2013. As Erik indicates, this is the first of at least two such mapping survey courses and, along with other forthcoming opportunities, is designed to increase the skills and capacity of volunteers to help put on Devon events. Details of further volunteer training events, and how to apply, will follow in due course.
