Devon Orienteering

Devon Juniors perform well at the World Schools’ Champs

Runners from Devon represented England in the World Schools' Championships in Estonia last week, and performed strongly.  Flurry Grierson has also provided a report, attached below.

The England team in the M1 Selected category won the World Schools Championships overall (long and middle distance races combined), having won the middle distance race. The winning team included Flurry Grierson (2nd and 3rd on the Long and Middle events) , and was coached by Ben Chester, so two gold medals for Devon.  Also, in the M2 selected class, England finished a creditable 5th overall, and third in the long distance race. Tom Perry was part of this team, and was the quickest of the England team in the long race.

Torquay Boys' Grammar School (Jack Forrest, Ollie Fox,  Sam Johnson Reuben Vasey  and Alastair Shapland) represented England in the M1 category, coming 12th in the Long and 11th in the Middle race.

Full results and lots of photos of what looks to have been a great event can be seen here. Well done everyone, including the coaches who supported the runners.  We look forward to reading about the event in future reports in the club email newsletter.
