What does this mean?
Local events are usually low key and in the 'localised' area, ideal for newcomers to try the sport and Training events are non competitive and used for training and coaching, aimed at members of the club, but they can attract people from neighbouring clubs, and are often ideal for newcomers to try the sport. Regional events attract participants from around the local Region, National events are high quality competitions that will attract people from far away, Major events are Major Events such as a British Championships. Virtual events are where there are no physical controls being used. Your presence at a control is registered using an App on your mobile phone, normally the free MapRun6 App.

Directions / Parking
Station Road car park (TQ13 9AL) for up to 5 hours parking for £3.10 -115 spaces. Car sharing where possible as space may be limited.
NB Station Road is closed at the A382 (west) end. Those driving from the A38 will need to access Bovey Tracey via Newton Road or via Chudleigh Knighton.

The event uses OpenStreetMap; as such there are a few inaccuracies, notably to
the east and north-west areas of the map.
Course Information
45-minute score event with 28 controls around the town of Bovey Tracey.
- The event is mostly on hard pavement/tarmac; a few route choices may take you
onto grassy/muddy footpaths and fields, which could be slippery ii there is rain
leading up to the event. Please choose your footwear to suit.
- There is no dedicated junior course. Any under-16s who wish to participate must
be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult.
The event will use the MapRun app; if you have never used MapRun, a user guide can be
found here.
- All controls are worth 20 points each.
- Each full or part- minute over the 45-minute time limit will incur a 10 point
penalty.

Registration and Start times
The start for the course is in the open grassland area to the south of Station Road Car Park. Start Times:10:15 – 11:00
Printed maps available at start.
Event staff will be on hand in the car park to direct.
The finish for the course is in Mill Marsh Park, also on Station Road (TQ13 9AL). Course Close 12:00

Safety Notes
- Competitors should be considerate and aware of pedestrians, members of the public and other runners; in particular, competitors must be cautious in congested or constricted areas of the town and when turning blind corners.
- Competitors should take care when running alongside the river or other waterways; only cross at recognized bridges.
- Competitors must take care with vehicle traffic for their own safety, and that of other road users.
- Take care crossing roads; where there is the option to use a crossing point (eg zebra crossing) competitors should do so.
- Competitors must not enter buildings, private property or other out of bounds areas, or cross walls, fences, railings or other boundaries marked as impassable
Miscellaneous
Qualified first aiders from Devon Orienteering Club will be available, and a first aid kit will
be located at the AGM venue (The Dolphin Hotel).
