Organiser's report

A few words to say a big thank you to all the volunteers who juggled their run to help. The folk on the car parking for their calm approach with the orienteering traffic and general public who also use the car park. Not always easy when we use a public carpark. Some don't like their quiet Sunday routine disrupted by a load of orienteers. Luckily we were able to use the field opposite as well. The weather had been kind. No rain.

Thanks to the SI team and start team .A great job.
For once the weather was not too cold for hanging around. Especially as its supposed to be winter.!
Thanks also to James for being on foot spray duty .This had to be in place because land owners requesting clean shoes in forest area.
Many thanks to Jamie ,planner and John, controller. Everyone seem to enjoy the courses . Unfortunately the Brown and Blue had to have a control taken out due to last minute tree planting.!! So this made the course a bit shorter. One runner said it was nice to have a shorter brown for a change. Jamie made a great job in a tough rough area. Especially the longer courses.
Thanks to Barbara, assistant organiser and daughter Harriet for doing the computer stuff ! Not really my field but I'm learning. Harriet was brilliant.
And finally thanks to all the competitors for coming. It makes it all worthwhile when we have a good number turn up. I also enjoyed the day

Planner's report

I hope you enjoyed your run around Mutters Moor. It's a challenging area to plan on, and even harder area to run on, so I am impressed that you all came and did battle with the heath and forest. A particular mention for anyone on Orange - in retrospect, #2 was probably a bit hard so well done for getting round the course.

Many thanks to John Pearce for updating the map and assisting with the planning - his comments vastly improved the courses - and John Cook for controlling. It was great to work with both of them. Thanks also to Martin Yeo for showing me how to use the SI kit.

The northern section on blue and brown was a little less interesting than originally planned following the last minute loss of a control site due to forestry works. On the plus side there may be some new terrain to explore next time you run here! Finally, thanks to all the DEVON volunteers who helped put on the event and collect controls.

Jamie Parkinson

Thanks to Robin for organising the event and to Jamie for planning the courses.
