Organiser's Comments

Well, for the second year in a row we were blessed with dry weather and sunshine although that seemed unlikely in the early morning when I was brushing snow of my car.

The River Dart facilities made registration a good focal point with lots of people bustling around, drinking coffee and going over their runs. It was good to see many new faces and families coming along for the first time. Hopefully you all enjoyed yourselves and will have another go at future events.

My thanks to all those who helped run the event and clear up after. It was really appreciated.

Planner’s Comments

Planning at River Dart Country Park looked like it would be fairly straightforward at first glance, but it proved to be slightly trickier than I expected.

The parkland is ideal for the easier courses, although, because it is a relatively small area, I did have problems getting enough length on the White/ Yellow & Orange.

I also found the transition between the park & the forest seemed to offer fairly limited route choices, which caused me a bit of a headache!

One thing I have learned from this event is take more time when choosing the Start & Finish locations, as this seems to make a big difference to the options available for planning each course.

Apart from some late unexpected tree felling in one small area of the map, which I tried to warn Blue/ Brown competitors of, everything seemed to run fairly smoothly & I hope everyone enjoyed their courses.

Thank you to Controller Andy Reynolds for his patience & advice. Thanks also to everyone who helped collect up controls afterwards & well done to Steve for making Organising look like a breeze!
