Devon Orienteering Club seeks to encourage and promote the sport of orienteering in and around the County of Devon.
Come along to an event and give it a try! All children and adults are welcome to attend Devon events and, in due course, to join the club.

Established 40 years ago, Devon OC is a friendly, forward-looking club, which organises orienteering activities all over the county. These include “Devon League” competitive events, weekly coaching sessions in Torbay and East Devon, a Christmas Fun Event, a recent Club Training Day etc.

Newcomers are always welcome to “come and try it” at our events, and there is somebody on hand to give advice in getting you started. All activities take place on areas specially mapped by the club at a large scale, and emphasising orienteering features. These include a plethora of boulders, tors, pits and gullies on our magnificent Dartmoor, and in forested areas large and small. Braunton Burrows in north Devon, rarely visited, has nooks and crannies on fascinating sand-dune features.

Orienteering totally depends on volunteers. There is something for everyone, whether you have an hour before or after participating in an event or can commit to an ongoing role, using your specific skills (in IT, marketing, First Aid, as a teacher, coordinator, organiser, mapper, accountant etc), experience and connections. See this page on volunteering and how you can play your part.

In the last ten years, there has been considerable increase in the amount of coaching available in the club for juniors and seniors, and this has resulted in a significant increase in junior membership and success in inter-club competitions.

Devon OC is Clubmark Certified, meaning that the club is committed to being a safe, effective, child-friendly sports club. The selection of Photos make a good starting point, perhaps followed by Beginner? and then a look at Events with a map showing forthcoming locations.
