Southern Championships, New ForestBen Chesters M45
Congratulations to Ben for his success in his class.
Well done also to Cat Edwardes for a podium position on W50 (with her sister!).
21 Devon members attended the long-running November Classic at Fritham and Bentley (Irons Well) in the New Forest for a national event incorporating the Southern Championships. This SOC event is always popular, being set in the typically runnable forest and heathland of the New Forest. Being held on the first Sunday of November, it's a good time to see the autumn colours of the Forest. The terrain is relatively flat, and free of thick undergrowth (mainly), which suits the runners. But if you go wrong, you can go very wrong as some of the features are indistinct, and every tree and path starts to look the same!
Some also made a weekend of it with a UKOL urban event the day before in Winchester.
