Warm up with a POCBoosting your Harcombe Forest event experience
If you feel the need for a mental and/or physical warm ahead of the event on November 8th why not make use of the Permanent Orienteering Course at Halden Hill, almost across the road (A38) in a very similar area?
Sometimes orienteering doesn’t seem to come around often enough to transfer learning from one event to the next one. After all, skill comes from frequent practice. Rarely do we have a perfect run, leaving scope to learn from mistakes and make fewer of them the next time.
Simply go to https://www.goorienteering.org... . If you haven’t registered before then do this for free. Then download and print off a course of your choice from 10 different ones (from a very easy short White to technical longer Brown course). Then give it a go on the Saturday, or just before the Harcombe event on the Sunday and fine tune your navigational skills.
If you do use at POC at Halden, please write something for our DOC newsletter on if and how it benefitted you.
Don’t forget to enter the Harcombe Forest by December 1st.
