Planner’s Comments

We would like to start by saying Thank You – to Roger Green for working wonders with the preparation of the maps from our amateur attempts with OCAD.  To Peter Grierson and his family who Organised the event so well, and found time to produce cakes and ice cream to supplement packed lunches.  To Adrian Taylor for his support and help in preventing us making too many errors. To all the people that helped on the day to make the event happen and finally You the competitors who came out to take part in the final Devon League Event of the season.

Organiser's Comments

The two previous events in Haldon Forest had both had problems with young competitors going ‘missing’. With so many juniors turning up – hurray! -  we were anxious to prevent a repeat, and the controller asked that all juniors should carry whistles; also that inexperienced juniors should either go in pairs or groups, or be shadowed by an adult orienteer. In the event, everybody returned before courses closed.  I was relieved too that there were no collisions between orienteers and mountain bikers!

Organiser's Comments

Well, for the second year in a row we were blessed with dry weather and sunshine although that seemed unlikely in the early morning when I was brushing snow of my car.
